Tumbler Ridge Hockey Mini-Camp
On Sept. 18th Glen and YWAM Hockey staff, Krista and Mack, drove 800 km north of Vancouver to Tumbler Ridge B.C. to do a hockey mini-camp on Sept. 19-23. This was the 2nd year that we were invited to run the Tumbler Ridge Minor Hockey Assoc. camp. There were 60-70 kids aged 6 to 17 split into 3 groups. We taught basic power skating & hockey skills. It was really satisfying to see the skill improvement of some the kids from last year.
I was especially happy to have Krista with me as she does a great job with the young kids who are new hockey players. For the youngest group she would take "Krista's Krew" to one end of the rink and run a completely seperate program for them while I was able to work with the rest of the group.
Overall, it was a great 6 day trip of working with the kids and a good opportunity to work as a team. Mack is new on staff and this was his first camp.
We arrived home Monday afternoon and Hockey DTS started Tuesday.
