Hockey DTS had a road trip to Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, this past weekend (Nov. 3&4). Our 36 hours were jam packed, one of the hi-lites definitely was the coaching workshop put on by Ken Bueckert (Glen's younger brother) and Stan Stewart. These two guys are the Head`Coaches of Pre-Novice (ages 5&6) and Novice (ages 7&8) divisions of Campbell River Minor Hockey Association. Between both divisions there are over 100 kids.
On Sat. afternoon Ken & Stan did a thorough off-ice coaching workshop and then our students hit the ice with Ken to run a practice for the Novice group.
At 7:30 the next morning our crew led 2 more practices, with the Pre-Novice and then the Novice group, under the direction of Ken & Stan.
Here is part of an email Ken sent to all of the parents of the kids today.

YWAM
This last weekend went wonderfully.
The YWAM people were very appreciative of the opportunity to come and 'Hone' their Coaching skills.
I got lots of positive remarks from both the YWAM people and from many of you Parents.
I would like thank all those of you who went out of their way to make our Guests feel so welcome and appreciated...they were over-whelmed with all the positive feedback they received.
The group you saw last weekend will be spending 2 months in Russia, starting in January 2008...running Camps and Practice Sessions for kids 5 to 15 yrs old."

I want to pay tribute to these two guys. Both have had their sons go thru CR Minor Hockey...a long time ago. They are involved as volunteers for all of the right reasons. Their time and energy commitment is huge, at least 5 or 6 ice sessions a week plus all of the prep time. They really encourage the parents to get involved as coaches and then Ken & Stan coach the parents to coach the kids. Always smiling and joking with the kids and parents, it is evident that they truly enjoy what they are doing.
Our 7 students and 2 staff (Krista & Mack) are grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from two amazing coaches.
